The Boutique & Gourmet Hotel Orso Grigio is a small, elegant 4-star hotel in the pedestrian area of San Candido in Alta Pusteria. Sharing a vibrant dialogue with its owners and without losing sight of its important historical heritage, renowned architects adapted the over 500-year old building to the evolving needs of its guests. The fascination of bygone days and the linear elegance appreciated today are reflected in the personal flair of each room offering every comfort.
Step by step towards a modern age
The late Gothic hall and the Biedermeier citizens’ room, where the citizens’ representatives once met, are witnesses to its past. As part of the modernization, however, attention was also paid to sustainability in order to preserve the historical charm and at the same time integrate sustainable, environmentally conscious solutions. The dining room and the Bären Café provide bold architectural counterpoints.
The charm of a historic building
The building dates back to 1303 when it was granted a marketing license. Merchants and travellers would find room and board “At the Orso Grigio” guest house. The house has been in the current family since 1745. Today it is managed by Franz Ladinser and his daughter Verena, 9th and 10th generation managers, respectively.
